Darryl Robinson, former host of Drink Up on the Cooking Channel, was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment.

Also called DR Mixologist, Robinson, 50, known for crafting specialty cocktails from around the world, was discovered Wednesday lying face down on his bed, fully clothed, after a concerned friend called police.

Authorities say the cause of death is still pending an autopsy, but there didn't appear to be any signs of forced entry or trauma.

"At learning of the sad news, our thoughts go out to Darryl's family & friends," says a Cooking Channel spokesperson.

His assistant shared the news with his fans on Facebook, saying he was "full of light and charisma."

Robinson got his start behind the bar at his childhood home, where his family liked to entertain. He honed his skills at the King's Arms Tavern in Williamsburg, Va., while studying at The College of William & Mary.

After graduation he moved to New York to pursue acting, but he never lost interest in cocktail creation. He landed a gig at Hudson Bar at the Hudson Hotel in 2005, and became the host of Drink Up in 2010.

In addition to being an industry consultant to many bar and restaurant owners, he was also a TV guest on Today, The Wendy Williams Show and more.
