The Breaking Bad
star was in Boston for Wednesday night's screening of his new movie, Need for Speed
, at the Loews Theater on the Common. After the film, he celebrated at one of the city's most famous watering holes.
Along with a group of fans, Paul headed to Cheers in Boston's historic Beacon Hill area, where he spent the night mugging for selfies with fans and chatting up the crowd.
Clad in a leather jacket and black knit hat, the star braved the frigid temperatures and sipped a mixed drink while listening to a musician perform at the bar.
"He's a really nice guy. He took a picture with everyone, and gave out hugs," patron Shirley Leong told PEOPLE. "My friends tried to buy him a shot but he refused. He doesn't take shots!"
When another fan asked Paul to step outside and take a picture his friend who uses a wheelchair and couldn't climb the stairs to enter the building, Paul was happy to.
After posing for a snapshot, Paul went the extra mile and asked the staff to help him use a stair lift so the friend could come inside and enjoy the evening as well.
"I could tell he is a genuinely nice guy," added Leong.
