Bad bangs, stiff shirts, cheesy backgrounds: that is what high school yearbook photos are made of – unless, perhaps, you go to school in South Korea.

As a reward for their hard work throughout the year, many of the country's students are treated to an "anything goes" school picture policy, according to Kotaku. This phrase is not taken lightly. Teens from schools like Jeonju Haesung High School create costumes, pick poses and apply ridiculous makeup to get the most out of their moment in front of the camera.

The kids got total creative freedom, and the results are a bizarre yet hilarious mix of pop culture references and immaturity – talking about you, Iron Man Underoos. Check out some of our favorite yearbook photo selections below.
