Critics – including PEOPLE's – weren't exactly effusive in their praise for Meyers's debut. But few seemed to actually dislike Meyers's take on the show, simply noting that he presents a different energy than Fallon.
As Time's critic put it, "If Jimmy Fallon was (and is) your guitar-playing camp counselor, Seth Meyers is a little more like your wisecracking grad-student T.A."
