It's been more than a decade since VH1's I Love the '80s went off the air, and in its absence, American teens have fallen behind in the crucial area of '80s awareness.

Fortunately the fight to remember the '80s has found its first celebrity spokesperson: Footloose star Kevin Bacon, who recorded a public service announcement for Mashable addressing the '80s remembrance gap.

"You think Russia's a threat now?" the Tremors actor asks millennials in the two-minute clip, which is also an ad for Bacon's FOX series The Following. "Let me tell you about a little thing called the Cold War. They had nukes pointed at us for 20 years."

"You couldn't even skateboard to a Blockbuster without getting nuked," he added.
