Chinese Newborn Baby Survives Car Accident and Being Catapulted from Womb
Xiao Zhao
Xiao Zhao has earned the name "miracle baby" after he survived being born amid a motorbike crash.

The infant's father and pregnant mother were driving to a hospital in Xiamen, China, to deliver Zhao, when their bike was struck by a truck. Several witnesses to the accident said the collision catapulted the baby from his mother's womb and onto the road, reports the New York Daily News, while others believe the mother gave birth immediately after the accident.

Authorities arrived to find both of Zhao's parents deceased and the newborn 3 meters away from the crash site, supporting claims that he was ejected from his mother during impact.

Aside from a few scrapes, the 9 pound baby received no injuries from the crash. Video from iQIYI shows little Zhao peacefully recovering in a local hospital. Officials say he will be raised by his extended family upon release.
