Canning, 18, revealed she will attend Western New England University in Springfield, Mass., to study biomedical engineering.
"Decision made," she wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday, according to NJ.com. "WNE U class of 2018 BME Major w/ 56,000$ [sic] scholarship."
An account under Canning's name also Tweeted a similar message, though that post did not mention a scholarship.
The Lincoln Park, N.J., high school student caused a national uproar when news broke that she had filed a lawsuit against her parents seeking living expenses and tuition for Morris Catholic High School and college. Canning claimed she was abused and kicked out of the house, but her parents said she voluntarily left to live with a friend after refusing to abide by their rules.
After a judge denied her request on March 4, Canning dropped the lawsuit and moved back in with her family.
A Western New England University official could not comment on the status of individual applicants but told NJ.com the school "routinely offers merit scholarships to incoming freshmen based on academic achievement."
