Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry will perform a new arrangement of their hit song, "Dream On," with the Southern California Children's Chorus on the season premiere of ESPN's show E:60, in an hour-long special dedicated to the bombings.
"It's almost like [the song] was written for this unfortunate event," says Tyler, after referring to its lyrics: "Sing with me, sing for the year, sing for the laughter, sing for the tear."
"The lyrics, it's one of those rare songs that you can apply to a lot of different things, you can interpret it how you want, which is really the magic of music," adds Perry. "You can take it, and you can apply it to something very personal and small or something – a big event, an event like what happened in Boston."
Bob Woodruff hosts the series opener, which also presents five stories of survivors.
The show will first air on ABC Saturday at 4 p.m., followed by an updated version on ESPN on Tuesday, April 15, at 7 p.m.
