Opera Singer's Comedic Aria Livens Up Paris Subway for Commuters (Video)

It's a mix of high and low culture – literally (high culture being opera and low culture being ... the subway).

Opera singer Christophe Ménager likes to liven up the Paris subway with arias. This video captures him performing a comic selection for daily commuters.

Adrien Dehlalle, who uploaded the video, says that Ménager goes to the metro to sing for people who can't afford – or otherwise wouldn't be interested in – opera performances.

We hope that Ménager is recognized for his efforts and wish him better luck than world-class violinist Joshua Bell, who performed on a $3.5 million Stradivarius in the Washington, D.C., Metro in 2007 for 45 minutes and netted ... $32 and change.
