Among the top responses to "My mom is" – "Happy," "the best," "my life," "my everything," and simply "beautiful."
Not surprisingly, plenty of celebs have turned to social media to praise their mom's support and love over the past year.
New mom-to-be Chelsea Clinton was among them, shouting out to former Secretary of State and future grandmother Hillary Clinton about their family birthday celebration and sharing a candid pic of mom and daughter in giddy embrace. "We laughed a lot, similar to this picture," Chelsea Clinton Tweeted.
Katy Perry's Tweet-out was simple, using a red heart with a blue arrow symbol to profess her feelings. "I (heart) my mom!" Perry wrote, while Sarah Silverman used a touching quote: "Sometimes ALL you have to do is be brave – my MOM."
Khloé Kardashian's cute mom tout was more telling. "She's like my child and I love her! I love my mom," the youngest Kardashian sister Tweeted of matriarch Kris Jenner.
Black Eyed Peas musician Will.i.am used his own special day to celebrate his mother. "#itsMybirthDay… but I wanna wish my mom all the wishes because she did all the work… I'm blessed to have her as a mother… #thanksMOM," he Tweeted.
Others offered sentimental messages and shared photos. "What I learned from my mom: 'Never forget that you are alright," wrote Yoko Ono on Twitter above an adorable childhood snapshot of the pair.
Comedian and actor Kevin Hart posted a generational adage to celebrate the holiday, while Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes noted the TV bond she and her mom have long shared. "My mom just urgently texted me to let me know there is a Buffy marathon on all day tomorrow on Syfy. Because she is the BEST MOM EVER!" Rhimes wrote.
John Stamos also shared a photo and plaudit for his mother's goodness. "You always walk away feeling better about yourself when you've encountered my mom. HAPPY 75th to my fav in the world."
But perhaps Maria Shriver summed it up best for those of us who have lost mothers and are longing for them this weekend as others celebrate. "My mom died four years ago and it feels like yesterday," Shriver Tweeted. "Tell your mom today you love her. Trust me… you will miss her big when she is gone."
