The movie "Ali," about champion of the ring Muhammad Ali, may not have taken off at the box office, but its star, Will Smith, claimed the best actor prize at Saturday's MTV Movie Awards, reports the Associated Press. Taking the stage and imitating his movie's flamboyant subject, Smith, 33, exclaimed, "I'm a baaaad man." Speaking of rings, "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" took the best movie award. Mandy Moore, 18, collected the trophy, which looks like a golden box of popcorn, for best actress for her role in "A Walk to Remember." MTV viewers, who voted online, decided the winners. In all, says the AP, nearly 8 million votes were collected. As usual, irreverence was the order of the night at the ceremony, which was taped at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium and will be broadcast on the cable music network this Thursday. Among the night's performers were Eminem and Kelly Osbourne -- not exactly movie names, but definitely MTV names. In other categories, "American Pie 2" took the best kiss honor -- for what was a smooch between two guys, Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott, which made Nicole Kidman jealous, reports the AP. Though she and her "Moulin Rouge" costar Ewan McGregor won for best musical sequence, Kidman, 34, told McGregor onstage during her acceptance speech, "I'm really bummed we didn't win best kiss. We should have rehearsed more." Denzel Washington was named best villain (for his crooked cop in "Training Day," which had also brought him an Oscar), while best fight winners were Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan ("Rush Hour 2"). Top action sequence went to "Pearl Harbor." Reese Witherspoon won the best comedic performance prize for "Legally Blonde," while Paul Walker and Vin Diesel ("The Fast and the Furious") were named best on-screen team, the news service reports.
