"Titanic" star Kate Winslet married assistant film director Jim Threapleton Sunday in what the vicar described as "a normal wedding as far as we were concerned." Security was tight at the ceremony at the church in the town of Reading, England. About 150 guests, including actress Emma Thompson, attended. After the half-hour service, the 23-year-old actress, in a white Edwardian-style gown, posed briefly for photographs with her 25-year-old husband. (They met last year in Morocco on the set of the movie "Hideous Kinky," which has yet to be released.) "It was quite amazing," the bride said of the wedding. "It was the most amazing day of our lives." She said the exchange of vows was the highlight. "I think it was an incredible feeling."

  • The reception, held at a 17th century pub, included a simple meal featuring the hearty traditional dish of "bangers and mash" (sausages and mashed potatoes). A four-piece Irish fiddle band could be heard playing the tune from the "Titanic" scene where Winslet's character dances a jig.
