Bernadette Peters has stolen the heart of Washington Post drama critic Lloyd Rose, who is raving about the star's performance in the newly revived (and rewritten) 1946 Broadway musical war-horse "Annie Get Your Gun." "For anyone who cares about the American musical theater," writes Rose in Friday's paper, "the chance to see Peters in this role is reason enough to see the show. There really aren't any others." The show, which also stars Tom Wopat, tells the tale of Annie Oakley and originally starred Ethel Merman. The Post says Peters makes the role all her own.
