The top four films were unchanged from last week, with "Patch Adams" holding at No. 2 for the third consecutive weekend (with $8.1 million). "A Civil Action" followed with $7.6 million and "The Thin Red Line" with $5.8 million. "Stepmom" rose a notch to No. 5 with $5.2 million. "Gloria," director Sidney Lumet's remake of a film that starred Gena Rowlands, earned just $2.1 million for the three-day period and did not even make the top 10.
