Dustin Hoffman won a $1.5 million judgment against Los Angeles Magazine for running a computer-altered image of him (in his "Tootsie" drag) wearing a silk evening gown and heels. U.S. District Judge Dickran Tevrizian, who called Hoffman "one of our country's living treasures," ordered the magazine Friday to pay the actor for publishing the photo layout in its March 1997 issue without his permission. A Jan. 28 hearing will decide punitive damages. Hoffman, 61, filed a $5 million lawsuit against Fairchild Publications Inc., owner and publisher of the magazine, and its parent, Disney-owned Capital Cities/ABC Inc. He alleged violation of publicity rights.
