Mel Gibson has finalized a deal to star in "Patriot," about the American Revolutionary War. Shooting will begin this summer. At the moment Mel's shooting "The Million Dollar Hotel" for director Wim Wenders. After "Patriot" he is expected to move ahead on the remake of the Ray Bradbury novel "Fahrenheit 451," which in the '60s starred Julie Christie and Oskar Werner.

  • In other casting news, Michael Douglas is set to play Steve Douglas -- the pipe-and-slipper dad played on '60s TV by Fred MacMurray. Yes, Douglas plans to do a movie version of "My Three Sons."
