The rumblings keep growing louder that NBC "Today" show weatherman Al Roker will jump ship from that No. 1 morning program and accept a lucrative new offer from CBS to join its 3rd-rated "This Morning." The network plans to pump $20 million into a rescue effort for the show, one that may include bringing in Bryant Gumbel as host. (That deal reportedly hinges on whether or not Gumbel is made a producer of the show.) Elizabeth Vargas, currently on ABC's "20/20," has also been mentioned as a partner for Gumbel. Roker has another 10 months to go on his contract with NBC. It has also been reported that he has been entertaining an offer from ABC.
