Three singers who dominated radio in the 1970s -- Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and Billy Joel -- joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday along with Dusty Springfield, who died two weeks ago. The ceremony at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel featured the first live reunion of Springsteen and his E Street Band in a decade, even though the band itself wasn't being inducted. "I want to thank the mighty members of the E Street Band!" the Boss announced as he welcomed them onto the stage. McCartney, who didn't attend when the Beatles were inducted in 1988, made his first major public appearance since the death of his wife, Linda, last spring. He was accompanied by his daughter Stella, who wore a T-shirt that bore the message "ABOUT #&@%$! TIME!" Other inductees included "Superfly" singer Curtis Mayfield, already in the hall as a member of the Impressions; Del Shannon, who made "Runaway" a hit in 1961; and the gospel group The Staples Singers. Remembering Dusty Springfield, Elton John told the crowd: "I loved the beehive hair, the mascara, the pink tank top, the purple pants. It didn't affect me, of course."
