A New York judge has dealt Donald Trump a setback in his effort to evict the company that operates the Empire State Building. Trump, who co-owns the building, has been trying since 1995 to get rid of the Empire State Building Associates partnership, which has a lease on the 102-story skyscraper that runs until 2075. The partnership pays $1.9 million a year under a 1961 deal and grosses $85 million from rent. But in a ruling made public this week, a judge dismissed two of Trump's eviction notices. The notices alleged 116 building code violations, including problems with the elevators, sprinkler system and rodent control. The partnership has let the 70-year-old office tower become a "second-rate, rodent-infested" firetrap, Trump alleged in court papers.
