Heston Skips Appearance
Originally posted Tuesday March 16, 1999 12:00 AM EST
Charlton Heston, whose National Rifle Assn. (of which he is president) is in many people's cross hairs following the Columbine massacre, failed to show up at a Hollywood awards ceremony on Sunday, reports Reuters. "He felt there was too much heat," said David Robman, president of the Society of Operating Cameramen (SOC). Robman said he got a call from Heston's assistant two days after the Littleton shoot-out. "She said the press is asking him questions, and he has no answers." Robman assured her that Heston would not be confronted by reporters during the Society's annual dinner at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Marina del Rey, but to no avail.
