Dench: Show Must Go On
Judi Dench will return to the Broadway hit (and her Tony-winning role in) "Amy's View" on July 6 to complete the final two weeks of the play's run. Dench, who won an Oscar for playing Queen Elizabeth I in "Shakespeare in Love," left the David Hare drama after the June 22 performance to be with her husband, actor Michael Williams, in London. Williams is seriously ill with a lung infection. "Amy's View" is a hot ticket, with only rear mezzanine seats available before the show ends its limited engagement on July 18. But with Dench absent (and replaced by an understudy), many were opting for refunds or exchanging tickets.
