Charlton Heston and his wife Lydia Clarke Heston were given a hostile greeting in London, where they are appearing in the West End in the A.R. Gurney play "Love Letters." The couple has reportedly received the worst reviews in British theatrical history. The International Herald Tribune calls Chuck's acting "monumentally terrible" and says his wife is "suffering from a talent by-pass." Another critic said she wanted "to rush up on stage and pinch them to check they were still alive." Accentuating the positive about the production, another critic wrote: "The best thing about it? The theater is air-conditioned."
