Patinkin: 'Hope' for All

Monday January 25, 1999 12:00 AM EST

Mandy Patinkin, who is returning to the cast of TV's "Chicago Hope" this fall, didn't intend to use his recent concerts as charity fund-raisers -- it just worked out that way. Patinkin tells Parade magazine that, in response to the massacre at Colombine and the war in Kosovo, he decided to put collection boxes in the lobbies where he played. He wound up raising $150,000 in nine cities, which he turned over to Doctors Without Borders and a group called PAX, which is Latin for "peace."
