Cameron To Mars

01/20/1999 at 12:00 AM EST

Looks like "Titanic" King of the World James Cameron has lined up his ducks in a row. The Oscar-winning director announced over the weekend that he will direct an Imax 3-D movie about the first manned mission to Mars while also overseeing a five-hour TV miniseries on the same subject for the Fox network. (Imax is a large-screen format that plays in specially equipped theaters, though so far most of Imax's rather dull fare would be better suited to science fairs than to mainstream movie houses.)

  • Cameron is telling friends that after the Red Planet projects he will direct "True Lies 2," a sequel to his 1994 action hit that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.
