"Garfield" creator Jim Davis is joining a local fight against a proposed power plant, reports the Associated Press. In a letter to Delaware County commissioners and the Muncie, Ind., city-county planning commission, Davis said he opposed the project because of health concerns. "However, my opposition also stems from the almost certain disruption to the lifelong commitment that I, and others like me, have made to transform this community into an international showcase for environmental responsibility," the cartoonist wrote. Charlotte, N.C.-based Duke Energy wants to build a $200-million, 640-megawatt, natural gas-fired power plant in a soybean field about 10 miles northeast of Muncie. It would sit about a mile from the headquarters of Paws Inc., the office base for Davis and his staff of nearly 60.
