Fergie, the Duchess of York (a/k/a the former Sarah Ferguson), was hired Tuesday as a London-based correspondent for NBC's "Today" show. She'll contribute human interest stories, features and interviews about once a month, the network said. The duchess is not without some experience: She was host of a British talk show called "Sarah . . . Surviving Life." In the premiere of the show (it ran for 10 episodes) Fergie sat on a couch and discussed life's crises with guests who included a woman raped by a serial killer and a hit-and-run driver who confessed 20 years after the crime. For "Today," the duchess said she was interested in reporting on how children have been coping with the war in Kosovo.
