Diet guru Richard Simmons has offered financial help to an ill 800-pound man recently rescued from his home. Firefighters on Sunday cut a 54-square-foot hole in an apartment house wall so they could free Steven DeProspo and take him to a hospital on the back of a flatbed truck. DeProspo, 31, and his mother now face eviction from their apartment because of the damage. Simmons, in New Jersey for a book signing Tuesday night, heard about the duo's plight and offered to lend a helping hand. "If it's just a matter of having the place cleaned up, I'd be happy to pay to have the place made presentable, as long as the landlord agrees to continue to let them live there," Simmons said. Landlord Jon Mendelson said he would consider any offer from Simmons.
