Drew Barrymore is set to step into Jane Fonda's old space boots. Variety reports that Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to remake Paramount's 1968 "Barbarella," in which Fonda starred as a wide-eyed (and often topless) 41st-century astronaut. Warners is negotiating with Barrymore to play the lead. This new version will play down the camp factor (the '68 version was directed by Fonda's husband at the time, Roger Vadim) and will stay faithful to the edgy comic strip by Jean-Claude Forest. Drew, who is already set to star with Cameron Diaz in a movie version of TV's "Charlie's Angels," has supposedly been interested in playing Barbarella for a long time.
