Ramsey Grand Jury Wraps

Nearly three years after six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey was found dead in her parents' Colorado home, the grand jury investigating the murder concluded its 13-month probe without issuing any indictments. Boulder County District Attorney Alex Hunter said that there was not enough evidence to file charges against anyone under investigation at this time. Hunter said emphatically that no one involved in the case would be discussing the grand jury's deliberations.

• While the homicide case remains open and could -- theoretically -- be prosecuted in the future, the Ramsey case seems to have collapsed under police and prosecutorial fumbling, not unlike the probe into the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in Los Angeles. JonBenet, a child beauty pageant contestant, was found strangled and beaten on Dec. 26, 1996. Police said her parents, John and Patsy, were among the possible suspects. The Ramseys, who did not testify before the grand jury, have maintained their innocence.
