Searching for an 'Angel'

Ashley Judd, whose ''Double Jeopardy'' has been cleaning up at the box office, is the latest actress said to be up for a role in a movie based on '70s TV series ''Charlie's Angels,'' New York's Daily News reports. Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz are already on board but producers still have not found a third actress for the film, which is scheduled to go into production Dec. 6. Thandie Newton (''Beloved'') and Jennifer Esposito (''Summer of Sam'') were among the original contenders. Also up for consideration is Lucy Liu from ''Ally McBeal,'' who sizzled on screen in Mel Gibson's ''Payback'' and planted a big wet one on Calista Flockhart's character during Monday's episode. But sources tell the News that ''Ally'' producer David E. Kelley is unlikely to give Liu leave from the show through January to film ''Charlie's Angels.'' Meanwhile, Judd may also prove to be a long shot: She's recuperating from a jet-skiing accident in Australia where she fractured her fibula.
