Alicia Morton who played the title role in ABC's recent TV-movie version of "Annie," is in a deal with the network and Touchstone TV to develop a series around the story. Morton may join the project's original producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron of Storyline Entertainment, for the proposed series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But sources said no deal has been formalized. A Louisiana native, Morton, 12, won the part in an audition held by Zadan and Meron that included 3,000 other girls. Although new to TV, Morton is a Broadway vet, having spent three years in "Les Miserables."
