The New York Post raised eyebrows this weekend when it reprinted a purported exclusive by London's Daily Mail on the John Kennedy-Carolyn Bessette Kennedy marriage. The tabloid reported Sunday that the union was all but over by the time the two were killed in the tragic July 16 airplane crash off Martha's Vineyard. The story cites unnamed sources that reportedly had "signed sworn affidavits," claiming among other things, that John had moved out of the couple's downtown Manhattan apartment and moved into the uptown Stanhope Hotel, and that Carolyn had hired divorce lawyers as well as private investigators to follow John. Once contacted, however, the lawyers mentioned in the story denied ever having worked for Carolyn -- or else issued "no comment."
