Do not read further if you are a "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" fan and want to be surprised by the outcome of Friday's episode . . . Regis Philbin has finally turned over a check for the full amount on the phenomenally popular ABC quiz show. During a taping on Thursday, an IRS employee from Connecticut named John Carpenter went the full distance. He became the first contestant on the show to win the entire $1 million and is the biggest winner of a cash prize ever awarded on television. Carpenter's final question was relatively easy: "Who was the American president who appeared on 'Laugh-In'?" Answer: Richard Nixon.
