12/01/1998 at 12:00 AM EST

"Peanuts" cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, 77, left the hospital and returned to his Santa Rosa, Calif., home Tuesday, two weeks after being diagnosed with colon cancer. The creator of Snoopy and company was released from the hospital in the morning and spent most of the day resting, said his wife, Jean Schulz. "He's tired, but he's fine," she said. "He's probably just typical of a patient going home."
