Media mogul Ted Turner (who is vice chairman of Time Warner, which owns PEOPLE) has said that he is "very serious" about running for President, but that his wife, actress Jane Fonda, is against such a notion. The current issue of the New Yorker magazine quotes Turner at a Nov. 6 dinner of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation in Santa Barbara CA, where he received a World Citizenship Award. "I am very serious about running for President, but Jane doesn't want me to do it," Turner reportedly told several foundation members after his speech. Yet Fonda left the door open to a Turner campaign, saying, "Wherever Ted goes, I go."
