Blondie's Blues

12/01/1998 at 12:00 AM EST

Deborah Harry and her band Blondie have sued their former record company over a royalty dispute. The band claims that EMI failed to live up to a new agreement for royalties on material the group recorded between 1977 and 1982 (including the hit "Call Me"). Harry said Wednesday that Blondie had negotiated the new deal on its back catalog in 1996 but the company had not honored it. Blondie filed the lawsuit last week in U.S. District Court in New York. Harry would not specify how much money the band was seeking.
