A physician from the Nobel Peace Prize-winning international relief organization Doctors Without Borders will help ring in 2000 in Times Square. "It is an extraordinary honor to have been selected to help New York City and the entire world ring in a new millennium," Dr. Mary Ann Hopkins told the Associated Press. "I am both awed and humbled." An estimated 1.5 million people are expected in Times Square to watch the big ball drop, with another 1 billion people worldwide expected to watch the party on TV.
