Tonya: Divine Retribution?
Six years to the day when her figure-skating rival Nancy Kerrigan got whacked in the knee, Tonya Harding got a nasty jolt of her own. Harding was driving her pick-up truck in rural Clark County, Wash., on Thursday when she hit some ice. Although she escaped injury, the truck skidded about 30 feet before landing in a ditch. A photographer from the local Columbian newspaper who was at the scene said Harding threatened a lawsuit if he took her picture. (A photograph was published in the paper's Thursday edition.) On Jan. 6, 1994, Nancy Kerrigan was attacked after she practiced for the national figure skating championship in Detroit. Harding later pleaded guilty to covering up for her former husband and his friends, who had hatched a plot to injure Kerrigan.
