Baseball commissioner Bud Selig has ordered Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker to undergo psychological testing before deciding whether or not the pitcher will be disciplined for the bevy of disparaging remarks he made about women, foreigners, minority members and gays in a recent SPORTS ILLUSTRATED interview. Selig, who reportedly did not speak to Rocker before issuing the mandate, called Rocker's remarks "reprehensible" and "completely inexcusable." Following Selig's order, the Braves held a somber press conference at Turner Field in Atlanta. Team president Stan Kasten called Rocker's remarks "repugnant," but insisted the 25-year-old was not a bigot and that the team has no plans to trade or release him.
