Charlotte Hornets basketball player Bobby Phills, 30, was killed in a wreck yesterday after he lost control of his car as he and fellow teammate David Wesley were racing each other in their Porsches. Following the accident, stunned Hornets teammates and officials gathered at the scene, less than a mile from the Charlotte Coliseum. (Minutes earlier Phills was practicing for Wednesday night's game with the Chicago Bulls; the game was postponed.) Others involved in the accident were listed in stable condition at Presbyterian Hospital: the driver of the other car, Robert Woolard Jr., 31, of Cornelius; and Yao Agbegbon, 33, of Charlotte, who was driving a minivan taxi when Phills lost control.
