Jim Brown Sentenced

Another football legend and actor, Jim Brown, has been sentenced to six months in jail for refusing court-ordered domestic-violence counseling or community service for smashing his wife's car with a shovel. Brown, 63, had argued that he does not deserve a year of counseling because the jury convicted him only of vandalism and cleared him of threatening his 25-year-old wife, Monique. After Los Angeles Municipal Judge Dale Fischer sentenced him to jail, Brown said he feels he is being singled out for prosecution but will serve the time with "dignity and pride." Brown was allowed to remain free while he appeals.
