Casting Calls: Clooney, Crawford

11/13/1998 at 12:00 AM EST

George Clooney is said to be stepping into Frank Sinatra's shoes to take on the role of Danny Ocean in the proposed remake of "Ocean's Eleven." That quintessential Rat Pack movie involved a hit on Vegas casinos. So far, no other casting choices have been announced . . . Michael Crawford, who rose to international stardom as the lead in 1986's "The Phantom of the Opera," is to make his London stage comeback in a new musical version of "The Witches of Eastwick." Crawford will play the devil in a role made famous in the film version by a scenery-chewing Jack Nicholson. Lucie Arnaz will play the Cher role.
