'Scream' Heat

The movies looked like death warmed over this weekend. "Scream 3," the final installment of director Wes Craven's hit horror franchise, topped the weekend box-office race with a gigantic opening. Dropping off badly was Bette Midler's "Isn't She Great." Variety reports that the Jacqueline Susann biopic is a $30 million bomb. The weekend Top 10:
1. "Scream 3," $35.2 million.
2. "The Hurricane," $4.9 million.
3. "Stuart Little," $4.8 million.
4. "Next Friday," $4.3 million.
5. "Eye of the Beholder," $4.04 million.
6. "The Green Mile," $4 million.
7. "Galaxy Quest," $3.3 million.
8. "Down to You," $2.9 million.
9. "Girl, Interrupted," $2.6 million.
10. "The Talented Mr. Ripley," $2.5 million.
