Selena Sings Again

"Selena Forever," a musical tribute to slain Tejano singer Selena, will feature 35 singers, actors, dancers and musicians and nearly 30 songs when it premieres in San Antonio, Tex., on March 21. There has been no word on the show's future after that -- such as whether or not it's Broadway-bound -- but the musical's composer, Fernando Rivas, told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times: "I'm hoping it will cross over." Because of the strain of the title role, it is being shared by two women: Rebecca Valadez, 21, and Veronica Vasquez, 24. Denise Stefanie Gonzalez, 11, will play Selena as a child. Selena Quintanilla-Perez, 23, was fatally shot in Corpus Christi on March 31, 1995. Her fan club president, Yolanda Saldivar, is serving a life sentence for the killing.
