Tiger at Bay

And now for something completely different for Tiger Woods: He lost. Woods, hindered by a 16th-hole bogey, saw his string of PGA Tour victories halted by Phil Mickelson at Sunday's Buick Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. With only five more holes to play, Woods overcame Mickelson's seven-stroke lead and tied with him for the winner's spot -- only to make critical mistakes that cost him the game. Mickelson's final-round 70 gave him a four-stroke victory. Tiger finished tied for second place. Until yesterday, Woods had won six straight tourneys, the longest PGA Tour winning streak in 52 years. During the streak, he won more than $4 million. (Do the math: That's $2,805 per shot.)
