Major League Baseball has asked New York Yankee outfielder Darryl Strawberry to leave spring training camp. The slugger, who is already on court-ordered probation stemming from a drug charge last year, tested positive for drugs again last month and faces his third suspension from the game. A formal decision regarding Strawberry's fate is due today from Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig. (It is expected to be a one-year suspension.) New York Yankees team owner George Steinbrenner told reporters "my feeling runs very deep for (Darryl)." Of Strawberry's future, he added, "We will wait and see . . . Naturally, we are all disappointed. This isn't an act of violence. It is a sickness."
