It was a big weekend for awards in this big month for awards. Whitney Houston and the artist formerly known as Prince were both named "artist of the decade" at the 14th annual Soul Train Music Awards Saturday night in Los Angeles. Mary J. Blige, a winner for the best R&B female album, also received the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for female "Entertainer of the Year." Her male counterpart was multi-platinum selling rap star DMX. Last night, the second annual TV Guide Awards honored "Everybody Loves Raymond" as favorite comedy series and "ER" as favorite drama. More than one million TV fans voted on the winners. A special "Editors' Award" was presented to the cast of "Friends," a show that has been traditionally overlooked at the Emmys.
