Beatles Between the Sheets

After six years in the making, the surviving Beatles plan to publish a 360-page "Beatles Anthology" this fall. It is an attempt by Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr to set the record straight about themselves and the late John Lennon, McCartney's spokesman Geoff Baker told Britain's Sunday Telegraph. "It goes across the board," Baker said of the $80 volume. "It is about the Beatles as a band, the music, but it deals with everything else -- the tours, the drugs, the disputes." Among the revelations in the book: It wasn't McCartney -- as has been long believed -- who caused the band to break up 30 years ago, but it was Lennon who was the first to leave. The book also says that four years ago, the three Beatles said no to a $175 million offer to tour America, Germany and Japan.
