"Hannibal Traitor" and "Hannibal Defector" are among the headlines splashed across British tabloids on Friday, in reaction to Thursday's news that Sir Anthony Hopkins has become an American citizen. In an interview with the Express, the "Silence of the Lambs" Oscar winner, 62, said he "loves" his life in California but backed off saying why he chose the U.S. over the U.K. "Thank you for the interest," he said, "but I really don't want to discuss it." Among the witnesses at Hopkins's swearing in ceremony this week were Steven Spielberg and John Travolta.
