Prosecutors in Baltimore have dropped assault charges against NFL star Ray Lewis, stemming from an alleged bar fight last year. Even so, the Baltimore Ravens linebacker still faces a murder charge following a brawl in Atlanta after last January's Super Bowl. The assault charge in Baltimore was dropped yesterday because of conflicting reports by witnesses. The dismissal may prove vital in Lewis's May 15 murder trial. (He stands charged with the stabbing deaths of two men.) Prosecutors had been hoping to introduce a pattern of past assaults. In the Baltimore case, Lewis was accused of punching a pregnant woman, Catrice Parker, 24, and kicking her in a crowded bar. Her baby was reportedly not harmed.
